Tax advisory & planning
Practical, CPA-led advice for the decisions that have tax consequences, before you make them, not after.
Where we help
Advisory work is about the decisions that shape your tax position. The earlier we're involved, the more options remain open. Common areas include:
- Planning a move between Canada and the United States and understanding the tax consequences on each side
- Residency and pre-immigration or pre-emigration planning
- How to structure a business or investment that operates in both countries
- Owner compensation, distributions, and the interaction of corporate and personal tax
- Specific tax questions where you want a clear, considered answer grounded in current law
Questions we're asked to answer
- Should I take salary or dividends before moving to the US?
- What will departure tax look like on my company shares?
- Does my US LLC create a Canadian tax problem?
- How do we structure a US expansion, so profit isn't taxed twice?
How advisory engagements work
We scope and quote advisory work up front. You tell us the decision or question; we confirm what's in scope, gather the facts, and come back with a clear written analysis and recommendation you can act on. Every conclusion reflects your particular facts. General information on this site is not a substitute for advice on your situation, and no specific outcome is guaranteed. Advisory engagements are quoted as fixed fees after the initial consultation.
